Let's Talk About it Online, Telephone & Face to Face Counselling in Croydon

Your Counselling. Lets talk about it

Your counselling journey; what happens next and what to expect

My background is rooted in the psychodynamic tradition and is also flexible and sensitive to your individual needs.

Generally, if you are seeking the support of a psychodynamic counsellor you should be interested in exploring yourself and your life experiences, and seeking self-knowledge in addition to life changes. You will be doing a lot of self-reflection and should have a natural curiosity for you internal life and why you behave the way you do. For example, someone who keeps choosing abusive partners may want to learn how to break that pattern by exploring their unconscious conflicts through free association.

INITIAL MEETING
Counselling begins with an initial meeting, sometimes known as an assessment, which allows us to get to know each other and talk about your concerns and what is troubling you. You can email letstalkaboutitcounselling@outlook.com to set up your initial meeting.

This initial meeting lasts approximately 60 minutes and allows me to get to know a bit more about you and what brings you to counselling, it is also an opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have. Attending an assessment places you under no obligation to attend further sessions. If you do decide to go forward with ongoing support, we can work together to decide on a day and time that suits and a possible focus for our work.

ON GOING SESSIONS
We can work flexibly, to an open-ended or agreed time frame. You are in control of your sessions and the pace that they go at, I may challenge you occaisionally, but I aim to do this in an empathic, non-judgemental way. We will work together to process your feelings and life experiences and gain clarity, understanding and self-awareness.
